  7.         Each  of  these  two 
  8. vessels of  identical  style
  9. has an  inscription cast on 
  10. its   inner   wall,  one  of  41 
  11. characters,  the other of  40
  12. characters.  These  recount
  13. how  a  registrar named Ta 
  14. was given a white horse by
  15. the Chou monarch, and that
  16. he  made these vessels both
  17. to record  the event and to 
  18. inform his ancestor I-ting.
